Marine Protected Area of \u200b\u200bPortofino, in collaboration with University Genoa, Dr. Mojetta Angelo (Milan) and the City of Santa Margherita Ligure, decided to organize a day devoted to the census of dusky grouper in the waters of the WAP.
It is thought to involve Diving Centres so that normally operate within the AMP, so that this day may constitute a promotional event for The PMI for diving.
This is a unique opportunity to offer different dive underwater, in which the experience of each mode has to be appreciated, as well as of an event that sees the work along with several diving operators in the Marine Protected order to enhance the image of our sea.
The initiative will take place over two days, May 25 and June 8: begin at the site of AMP in S. Margherita with an explanation of the activity.
The census itself will take place Saturday, June 8, between 16:00 and 16:45 to 20:30 with dinner prepared by the Navy League of St. Margherita. Diving to the participants and their customers on May 25, will explain the reasons behind this move and the techniques of visual census to be taken. handing each participant a pre-printed ballot on which to place the data will then be allocated by drawing lots, individual diving about 30 dive sites on which to operate. Some sites are also planned in Area C of the AMP, but will be activated for the occasion, some dive sites in the area A.
The basic idea is to have each site for 3 or 4 (in case you made a run in snorkelling) units of reference (0.5, 10,20,30 m) long which will be held the 'immersion.
At each site divers will plunge into 8 pairs, 4 of which will carry out a horizontal transect to the east and 4 west, keeping the shares as laid down. If membership of the divers was very large, you may consider going down with trios or double pairs of divers. It 'clear, however, that more than 4 persons per transect is not thought possible.
During the dive, divers should note the number of sightings of grouper and some features of the copies distributed on board the night before. After diving, each group will return to their diving, which are responsible for photocopying or photographing all the completed form, so that the card can remain as a reminder to the diver and the organization can collect data.
