Bacillus rossius (PSG 3)

Class: Insecta
Order: Phasmatodea
Superfamily: Phyllioidea
Family: Bacillidae
Genre:
Bacillus species: B. rossius

Bacillus rossius phasmid is one of the few present in Italy, his breeding for this reason it is simple and requires no special care. The female
not reach 10 cm in length, is green or brown and much larger and more robust male who is around 5 cm, reddish-brown and very thin.

In nature the male of this species is very rare, and very often this phasmid is forced to reproduce by parthenogenesis, thereby creating only female animals.

the breeding is just a small box, the height must be at least 20cm to promote changes to the insects, feeding on bramble, and do not need a lot of moisture, spray a week is more than enough, and the temperatures are farmed very favorites because it can be brought to temperature of the house.

To reach the adult stage will take 6 months after which the female will begin to drop to the ground the eggs, small balls of black, which hatch after about 3-6 months.

At birth the larvae from what I have seen are very delicate and mortality is high until the first suit.
