Hashimoto's And Cold Sores

Mini Puffer

think that, being small and young, I can not be anything big. (Cited in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart)

I've always had a weakness for Tetraodontidae .
Especially for those of fresh or brackish water.
And still more especially for the mini puffer, or for the kind Carinotetraodon .

Consisting of six species, differs from other Tetraodontidae primarily for its small size, ranging from 2 to 6 cm. Distributed in south-east Asia, especially between India, Borneo and Indonesia, with some species endemic only to certain very specific areas, like the case of the wonderful Carinotetraodon irrubesco (Tan, 1999), located just in some rivers of Sumatra and southwestern Borneo.
All species are classified as Not Evalued for the IUCN Red List, even if you do not yet have actual data of the various populations, yet the specimens in trade are almost all the catch. In Italy the only species reared and sold on a regular basis is Carinotetraodon travancoricus (Hora & Nair, 1941), which reaches into the aquarium an average length of 2.5 cm. Despite the size of the hunters are still active, with a diet primarily made up of invertebrates, with a particular predisposition for snails and bloodworms.

After some small piece of information opening, I refer you to the video Toshiya Nishimura, who takes care of Tetraodontinformes Laboratory, which is worth to be seen (perhaps with Google Trad, heheh).

In Italy, the only site that covers the subject in a comprehensive manner is obviously aware Aquarium, which really speaks to various puffer in great depth, and which I refer you to link . But we must also mention an article on reproduction the dwarf puffer Antonio Borrani on the site of the GAF (also published on the Playfish n. 18), this is the link .

For information on the taxonomy and morphology and habitat, I refer you to page fishbase, here, whereas a couple of other useful links are to The Puffer Forum , Dwarfpuffers.com , Tropicalfishfinder.co.uk , Zwergkugelfisch.de addition to those already mentioned above.

I'm setting up a 30 liter and still do not know what to put exactly. Who knows ...
