Which Hans Steam Mop Is The Best

Configuring an Access Point as a repeater (DGN2200 and Netgear WPN802)

small guide if you need to boost your wireless signal at home.
Although the indications are limited to two well-defined products, I believe we can apply them with a little 'of wisdom, to any other combination.

In short, an Access Point can act as a repeater using WDS technology in order to repeat the signals from a wireless router and expand the range of the wireless connection. However, it is rare to find WDS incompatibility between two devices of the same brand even if they often stem from the difficulty of connecting wireless chip mounted.

GUIDE :

Note: Some operations will require a short wait with a progress bar that indicates the completion. Sometimes you must also log back into the modem / router or access point retype the IP addresses in the internet browser.

  • Access the modem / router DGN2200 typing in the address bar of your internet browser: 192.168.0.1 (unless you have specified a different IP network).
  • In options Setup / Wireless Settings note the Name (SSID) of Region and Channel , as they will be identical in the settings of ' Access Point WPN802.
  • Take note of the WEP key in Where protection is using a wireless signal. NOTE: repeating function is permitted only with WEP keys. If your protection is provided by WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK you will need to change it to a WEP key.
  • In options Advanced / Wireless Repeating Function tick the Enable Wireless Repeating Function and box Wireless Base Stations , indicating then the MAC Address that is on the WPN802 chassis. Bada that box Disable Wireless Client Association is NOT checked.

  • Access Point WPN802 Connect the power supply and a cable with RJ45 (network cable) to DGN2200.
  • Reset WPN802 pressing the appropriate button, which lies on the edge of the device, with a paper clip.
  • WPN802 Access to the Internet browser by typing in the address bar: 192.168.0.231
  • options in Setup / Basic Settings take care to disable DHCP Client and give the device a static IP address only if the network managed by DGN2200 has DHCP disabled.
  • In options Setup / Wireless Settings shows the same data Name SSID , Region and Channel of DGN2200. If the Channel is unchanged, change the 'Operating Mode in Auto (11g/11b) . At this point you will be able to change the Channel to make it identical to that of DGN2200.
  • If you are using a WEP key in the options Security / WEP, WPA Settings take care to type the same key used for DGN2200.
  • In options Advanced / Access Point Settings tick the Enable Wireless Repeating .

  • Shutdown WPN802 and remove the network cable from the modem to RJ45 DGN2200.
  • DGN2200 Turn off, wait ten seconds and turn it back on again, waiting to be connected to the Internet.
  • Reconnect to the mains the WPN802 ( without the network cable RJ45 ) at the point of the house where you intend to implement its new repeater function (I recommend a point halfway between the router and the nearest away from the house to cover).

With appropriate modifications, this guide is applicable to all the modem / router and access points, especially if the same brand if you care to keep in mind these points still.
  1. The modem / router and access point must have the WDS function, ie they must be able to manage the wireless signal in a way that both the source and the other on the same repeater.
  2. The access point must have the same SSID, use the same channel and the same region of the modem / router.
  3. The access point must have the same WEP key for the modem / router.
  4. The access point must have the same DHCP settings of the modem / router, then either enabled or disabled.
  5. The access point must be configured as a repeater.
